In 1972, Grandmaster “Iron” Kim initiated what would become the Oom Yung Doe schools in the United States. These schools are now flourishing in Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, California, and Washington. Teaching eight complete Traditional Martial Arts styles developed through centuries of practice and learning, Oom Yung Doe follows the traditional Moo Doe (martial arts) belt practice or system.
The traditional line of martial arts has an established practice of rank and position, which is recognizable by the belt, as well as uniform, insignia, rank certificate, and current ID held by the practitioner. These ranks indicate the individual’s achievement in following the true line of Moo Doe, which goes beyond the ability to take down an opponent to achieving balance, health, and strength while living the life of a good individual.
From white belt follows six sections before reaching black belt 1st degree. At 2nd degree black belt, one can become a certified instructor. At 3rd degree black belt, one can also qualify to become a head instructor. There is an opportunity to progress up to the level of Master, 9th degree black belt and above in Oom Yung Doe.
