Taught in the United States since 1972, the Oom Yung Doe line of martial arts is available in multiple schools in Central Florida and throughout the United States. Oom Yung Doe includes eight complete Traditional Martial Arts (TMA) styles, including Bagwa Chung, a Chinese form that consists of 128 core movements, each derived from the movement from nature.
Dating back to the Han Dynasty, Bagwa Chung incorporates both offensive and defensive movements that stabilize the body while engendering physical and mental strength. According to legend, this form of martial arts was the product of a man named Bagwa, who was born more than 1,500 years ago. After training in the mountains as a young man, Bagwa saw an impending invasion in a dream. When the invasion proved to be a reality, he came to the aid of the royal family and built a strong army to protect the kingdom.
After the battle, Bagwa agreed to stay 100 days to ensure the army was fully trained and prepared to handle future attacks. At the end of this period, he bowed to the king and walked away, breathing in a rhythm that sounded like "BAAAG WAAA, BAAAG WAAA." Following him and asking questions, the king ultimately saw Bagwa’s body disappear as if he floated away.
