For retired U.S. Marshal Albert Carrasco, a student training at the school, the program enhanced for him the ability to practice self-control in the form of drastically declining his addiction to cigarettes. At the beginning of training, he found it difficult to endure as his many years of cigarette smoking made his breathing labored. He was instructed in the breathing technique of Qi Gong, which helped to gradually fade his taste for cigarettes.
Also while with the school, Mr. Carrasco began training in Tai Chi Chung, which incorporates breathing techniques along with the intentional and focused movements. The knowledge he learned helped him to improve his concentration and energy levels as well.
