Oom Yung Doe is a form of Traditional Martial Arts that focuses on teaching students eight different styles as part of one comprehensive program. During the course of their training, students of Oom Yung Doe are taught to embrace a traditional Moo Doe moral code that encourages them to follow the “right path.”
This Moo Doe lesson teaches that those training in this unique form of traditional martial arts can choose to pursue one of two paths. The first is “Pa Doe,” representing the “wrong path,” and the second is “Chung Doe,” representing the “right path.”
A follower of Pa Doe is a person who is jealous, egotistical, undisciplined, and immoral. These are selfish people who lack honor and have a distorted view of the world. They do not tell the truth about their abilities and their talents as instructors deteriorate significantly as they age. Those they teach do not learn proper technique. This is because followers of Pa Doe emphasize the violent aspects of martial arts and teach nothing about personal responsibility for the consequences of one’s actions.
Conversely, a follower of Chung Doe is always conscious of how his or her actions affect others. Those who embrace Chung Doe are loyal, honest, honorable, and compassionate. Teachers on the right path believe in building the self-esteem, confidence, and character of their students. They remain strong and capable in their abilities as instructors as they age. They also leave a positive legacy behind in the form of balanced, compassionate students who pass on these values to future generations.
